Between Composting and Reuse
Our food packaging is designed to be recyclable, aligning with the latest recycling guidelines.
SUSTAINABILITY THE CORE OF OUR WORK
Certain packaging options are compostable, which means they can be processed with organic waste in composting facilities, providing an environmentally friendly end-of-life solution. Local composting ensures minimal environmental impact. Reusable crockery and packaging means it can be washed and reused many times, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.

More Sustainable Operations
At deSter x nupik, sustainability is at the heart of our mission. We are aligned with the broader goals set by the Spanish Presidency of the EU, focusing on promoting Europe’s reindustrialisation and achieving open strategic autonomy. Our commitment to sustainability extends to the implementation of practical measures during this European Presidency, with a particular focus on environmental initiatives, making our operations more sustainable than ever before and contributing to a greener future.

Green Transition
Key actions in line with our values include renewing our production methods, ensuring open strategic autonomy, driving the green transition and promoting environmental adaptation. Our commitment to sustainable practices not only aligns with these European priorities, but also reflects our responsibility to contribute to a greener and more resilient future.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER USE?
End-of-life management is more important than ever. As we strive to avoid waste, we offer several solutions to recover the material and energy used in production.

GOAL
Reduce our impact on the environment and minimise waste.

Compostable means that you can compost them yourself (home composting) or that they can be composted by industrial partners to speed up the process and filter out any residuals.

All the (single use) plastics we use are either already recycled (R-PET) or recyclable. You can dispose of all items in the bin and everything will be recycled with the normal waste streams according to your local waste management. All recovered material is industrially cleaned and re-ground for reuse or incinerated to use the energy released in other manufacturing processes.

Reusable items work in a closed loop system. As all items are used several times, they need to be collected and washed. Local laundries can help with the logistics and return all items spotlessly clean. If an item is broken or worn out, it can also be recycled. As the items have always been in a closed loop in a food-safe environment, they can be regrinded to be mixed into the material mix of the same item, making it a completely closed loop.
